Well, I am officially 7 weeks into my marathon training and I figured out that if I want to be able to keep people updated on my training, I better create a blog. This is my first ever blog so I am learning as I go. The whole purpose of this blog is to document how my training is going for myself and others to view. I am planning to update it once a week and I'm sure I will have lots to say as the miles increase.
Let me just sum up my training thus far... we run on our own Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. On these days we also run for a set time rather than a set amout of miles. Wednesday nights we do speedwork and drills as a team with our coach at the MJC track, which is made out of that cork-like material so it is super spongy and it's like running on really fluffy grass. Saturday mornings we do our long runs as a team from a variety of locations. This past Saturday we ran 6 miles in Knight's Ferry. We occasionally run up there because it is hilly and will help us prepare for the hills in San Francisco.
I run with a Nike Plus chip and my IPOD. This gives me the ability to track how far I've gone, how long I ran, and how many calories I burned. I have added this information to my blog page, but there have been problems in the last week between Itunes and the NikePlus website so my last run online for that was last Monday, June 1.
This morning, I ran for 1 hour (5.20 miles) at 6 o'clock before Joe left for work. I find that this is the easiest time for me to do my runs. I don't have to worry about the heat, push a jogging stroller, or wrangle 2 five year olds on bikes while I'm huffing and puffing the miles away.
Stay tuned for more posts!
