BACK TO RUNNING PAIN FREE - LET'S KEEP IT THAT WAY!!

Well, last week was tough. After having my calf cramp up on Saturday and Sunday's runs, I was nervous to run on Tuesday. Because I wasn't sure what was going on with my calf (that never gave me an ounce of pain if I wasn't running, by the way!), I ran very slow, I mean almost a walk, for my one hour Tuesday run. That one went fine and so did my Wednesday night track work so I figured things were back to normal - until Thursday. So Thursday morning I was scheduled to run for an hour. I went out there and tried to go my usual speed which is good for me, but slow compared to most people. During the second half of the run, my right hamstring was sore and it only seemed to get worse. I figure this must have been residual from whatever was going on in my right calf. When I completed my run, it was sore and seemed to get more painful as I walked home, but I stretched it out pretty thoroughly to try and take care of it.
Thankfully, Friday I had a schueduled day off. Saturday's run was 6 miles along the canals between Tully Road and Sisk Road. I ran with my faster Team In Training buddies and got my best time in years, averaging 10:57 per mile. This may not sound fast, but this is great for me and it includes the fact that we walk for 1 to 2 minutes while we drink water every 2 miles. Suffice it to say, we were moving! And the best part is, my legs didn't bother me at all.
So for now I have dodged injury and I hope to keep it that way. We have an Injury Prevention Seminar on the schedule, but I don't think that's until August...
